Jackson, Wyoming: Grand Teton National Park and the Wild West

Located in the southeast of Grand Teton, or "The Grand" as the locals call it, is the town of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This is a city rich in heritage of the "Wild West". Jackson is the gateway to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park and is the last town with a performance worthy of note before entering the park.

Just a few years ago that Jackson is a small community, especially historical buildings and architecture of a typical seasonal tourismCity. Some of these flavors has in the past 10 years have been lost, such as hotel chains, the attractions of the old and modern architecture have increased Bought taken its place. Jackson is a tourist attraction guide congested commercial and leaving behind the Wild West.

Teton

An exception to the rising architecture in downtown Jackson is The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, together with the square of elk horns curved and reflect the city famous race care who traveled west dustyStreets of last year. The hotel has also managed some ancient word 'flavor of the old city, including an exhibition of black and white images of famous actors and actresses cowboy movie of 1920, waiting for 30 and 40 who visited the area.

Jackson, Wyoming: Grand Teton National Park and the Wild West

Fortunately, the everyday shooting around the square with live cowboy in a fake gunfight inspire audiences around the world staged. Occasionally you will see pharmacy side arms toting Cowboys (yes, allowed WyomingOpen-carry) to add the taste of the attraction.

As you head north of Jackson, was in first place, the SOD-covered Jackson Hole Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center and the construction of the museum. This is a great place to begin your journey into the park and provides hundreds of ideas for walks, views, and natural attractions, all part of the Wild West.

The National Elk Refuge is located near the Visitor Center, where thousands of elk can be seen, especially in winter, to survive as you collectWyoming weather. Moose are a refuge from the spring in the first treatment for themselves in the Forest Park and surrounding Bridger-Teton National. Water birds are abundant in this place created found throughout the year from wetland drainage and Cache Creek.

The physical boundary of Grand Teton National Park is about 4 miles north of the visitor center. They are on the scenic U.S. Highway 89, where there is no fee for participation in this part of hisThis park is where the real Wild West begins. Apart from a few private "inholdings" accommodation and parking facilities for the next more than 100 miles are relatively underdeveloped. Buffalo, antelope, deer, bears, wolves, coyotes can be viewed and hundreds of other wild west from the comfort of their car.

The meeting with the size of the Teton Mountains, as the ground over a mile-and-one-third from the Snake River Valley is even more beautiful than theIt was the famous expedition of Lewis and Clark in 1805 was, despite his view, by far.

Buffalo roam freely in a little-known area east of the Grand along Antelope Flats Road. You'll find this area on the map of the park, dominated by U.S. 89 as a loop to the Gros Ventre Junction, the Blacktail Ponds. Kelly Hot Springs provide a continuous flow of hot water to the Antelope Flats and is a popular meeting place for tasty Buffalo.

Cowboys of the early pioneers of this areatrying to carve out a life to bring cultures Antelope Flats on irrigation from mountain streams and turning over several miles of mountain flat delta. Unfortunately, the growing season in this valley has prevented them to make their permanent home. These cowboys better soil and a better climate in the lower valleys for the cultivation of crops to be found. The buffalo were the beneficiaries of the fields has left more than a centurybefore.

You might think you've seen the Wild West, as is the city of Jackson, but the real thing off the main road as you travel to visit the north.

Grand Teton National Park - the Pearl of the West

Many people do not know, but the Jackson Hole Airport is the only airport in a National Park with regular scheduled service! I flew many times in the last 25 years and I love every landing, every scene and every activity.

Wyoming Grand Teton National Park is approximately 4 miles north of Jackson. If the pioneers had seen in 1850, this area has never done before Oregon or Salt Lake City.

Teton

The Grand> Teton rises above all the mountains in the area. It reaches a height of 13,780 feet above sea level and is known as the youngest mountain in the Rockies. The increase in a vertical line from the valley floor like a guard standing next to the famous Snake River, this area is the home of "America's Serengeti."

Grand Teton National Park - the Pearl of the West

Few areas in North America are more environmentally County protected with 97% of land area in Teton or be under federal control or under the control ofprivate conservation organizations.

The wildlife is abundant and all the parasites, reptiles and big game includes the Wild West.

It 'an area east of Grand Teton Park, is that within the next to Highway 89 flats known as antelopes. Go east 89 to Moose along the base of Blacktail Butte.

They know that not many people take this part of the park that one of the largest and most visible herds of buffalo roamed freely. You can find the herd the harvestMoulton Barn (the most photographed barn in the world, with the Grand Teton in the background) in the line known as the Mormons. Often you are in the middle of the pack, before crossing the street for additional grazing rights.

Please stay in Buffalo when the vehicle approach. They are not tame! If you make them mad, will be collected and where they want to take. It can also damage your car if you do not like!

There are a handful of private homes onBluff that slopes overlook the significant increase in the shadow of Grand Teton. Lucky them! They are the last remaining private property surrounded by Grand Teton National Park.

If you are looking for wildlife, adventure, the Wild West and the natural beauty, this should be on your list! Accommodation is relatively inexpensive and the summers are cool and comfortable.

Do not forget a jacket for posts made in the shade. The downward inclination can bring a shiver of fan Leeif you are not prepared!

Yellowstone Buffalo on my birthday we woke up at sunrise on a beautiful sunny day in Yellowstone. A bison walked through our campsite. We were very polite and respectful as it should be, if a 2000-pound animal with horns puffs up as it passes you by! As a warning to the signs in the park .. "Many visitors have been gored by Buffalo can weigh 2000 kg and can sprint to 30 mph three times faster to perform what may seem, these animals are domesticated, but wild.. Unpredictable and dangerous "has also been suggested, never grab the tail of a buffalo - probably very good advice!

Bison and geysers of Yellowstone

It 'was very discouraging travel through the park before being stopped only by a herd of buffalo along the road. We felt very vulnerable sitting completely exposed on a motorcycle without a space, such as cars and buffalo surrounded escape. Within a few yards away, a huge bison looked straight at us, put thetongue out and hissing. We apologize for close viewing of animals had hoped, but certainly did not expect to come awfully close!

We left to go to Bearthooth Yellowstone Highway. The Beartooth Highway is a breathtaking adventure for motorcycle enthusiasts. This highway inspiration rugged mountain offers a panoramic view of snowcapped mountains, granite cliffs and glacial lakes. To add adventure, we ran against bigStorm clouds!

A motorcycle ride around the Grand Teton National Park

Grand Teton National Park

It 'been a bit' a ray of Lander, Wyoming to Grand Teton National Park, I think it was about 150 miles or so, when you notice the difference of land has started one. One of the things that caught my attention on the sides of the road, these wooden "fence" things sortof. I really had no idea what they were, or because they were built on the sides of the road.

Teton

My ever so brilliant brother-in-law and riding partnerhe told me. These things are helping, the piles of snow from the beginning, bad in the streets. It makes no sense to me. I can imagine that winter in the central part of Wyoming pretty bad. With the wind blowing from, I have no doubt that some of the biggest mounds of snow can accumulate on the roads.

A motorcycle ride around the Grand Teton National Park

The journey that led us, most of the ups and downs that we found. From the hills, a bit 'steeper. We encountered some road construction, though. Partsouch - well-off in gravel for a while '! It seemed like we were in the hilly part of the very long journey, and the next thing we knew, we could see. The Grand Teton!

I already had a camping park we can do in Grand Teton National for the bed down. As we had ridden a good way now, we decided to go directly to the campsite. As it turned out, we went right next to the Grand Teton Mountains on the way toCamping. I still think they look!

I attended a very small tent. I have called "the tent coffin" because you had to put down the inside and outside the kindof thing, and once it was setup, it looked like a coffin. It was ok, but in hindsight I wish I had taken a different tent. While very little luggage, it was a pain inside and out. It was almost impossible to change clothes inside. Since then I found the curtains much better.

We droveback to the office, was eating a map of the area and a little camping, and then headed back to our side for dinner. Some pieces of wood and was served a little dinner 'later and the kitchen!

We had reserved parking for only two days in Grand Teton National, so we took a rest because we know that the next day was a day of driving.

Riding the Grand Teton National Park is an adventure not soon forget. We woke up our new camp and gave us a small breakfast beforethe courage to explore. We met our new neighbors, which was really nice. My brother-in-law and riding partner of the Mississippi, and Tennessee. Our neighbors, as they were off to the south as well. Wow, what a small world.

We drove from our campsite and directed southwards, pointing amazing. It was a really nice place to stop for information on the origin of the Grand Teton - and some good photo chances. The bottom of the river was small but verybeautiful. We have seen a raft on the river far enough behind that we are not saying how many people were on a floating trip that day.

We arrived in Jackson Hole just around noon and stopped at a small restaurant for a bite to eat. The building across the street was one of the most interesting roofs we've ever seen. The entire roof of the place was covered with grass! Yes, of course, true that the grass is growing!. We laughed at the wonder of a little ', asgot up there to cut the lawn on the roof.

After lunch we went to the "hole" for a bit 'and then north to the road from Jenny Lake. The lake was crystal sits directly below the increase in the Tetons themselves. Picturesque!.

Tonight we have a nice Italian restaurant on the edge of a lake, like the Tetons found further consideration in light aqua blue. We were able to get a table on the wraparound deck, you mighteat dinner while enjoying a fantastic view.

Tired, full, and her eyes full of the beauty of the day we returned to camp to start our fire.

We woke up very early in the morning because we knew it was a long day. Not only that, we were excited about the trip we were planning. You could easily run just north of Grand Teton National Park just in front of Yellowstone National Park, but naaah - would take part of the funout!.

We had a line running south to Jackson Hole, shown on a westward passage through the South Teton itself. This path would ride our part of the Grand Teton! The temptation was too hard to resist.

Not only is the path we have chosen to take us through the Tetons, but we had the wind in "back" (west), part of them, so we can see what the page looked like. Our way led us to realize Idaho, and as we headed north,Rock would be a small part of Montana before entering the west side of Yellowstone National Park.

So, with our location in mind, we broke camp and repacked all our camping gear. This task was easier. It 's interesting if somehow we load our gear just a little' different every time when we kept the bikes all piled on them.

Once loaded, we started looking for a gas station on the road. I felt it was Jackson Holego to the next stop for gas, so we went.

We rode south to Jackson Hole. The mighty Grand Teton mountains were off to our right, and there was no way to drive without looking at the animals from time to time to catch a glimpse of them powerful.

We stopped to eat in Jackson Hole for fuel, and a light snack. Once we found our way to the west, we were off towards the rising of the Teton

The road was incredible. No real hard turns, only slightlysmooth curves (some are close), as we started to climb. There were some points that could spread along the mountain road behind us to see Jackson Hole - it's funny, I look you in the street as you drive .. We went over the pass and run decent on the other side.

Once "landed" on the "back" of the Tetons, we stopped for a minute to take the bike and only the view from the opposite side. It was almost unbelievable how the front. There were manyjagged edges on the rocks, but - they were a bit 'more rounded ..

Back on the road again and headed north, crossed into Idaho. This is the first time I had the chance to see a real farm potatoes. They are huge! We spent a lot of them along the streets, and seemed to always reach out to the west ..

Idaho did not last long, so it seemed. But if you ride a bike and the wind in your face, the weather is nice and sunnyhot - the weather seems to have no meaning. We actually stopped at some time in Idaho and have been, if we want to Sturgis South Dakota in the conversation. We wanted to arrive in time for the motorcycle rally, not too early nor too late. When we planned our schedule, I asked my brother-in-law what day it was, and with a glance, without words, he replied: "I do not know." I think it was the best part of the trip! The fact that none of us knew what day it was, and even better - notWarning!

The sun is to follow for a while ', but the weather began to turn to start, as we rode closer to Yellowstone National Park. We crossed the line of the State of Wyoming (home of Glacier National Park), and realized that it was wrong. The temperature began to fall, not visible in the sun, the clouds have taken place, the sun above us. Then it happened, it began drizzling.

A bit 'of rain is not a big problem and expect from a bike trip like ours. We createdthe running and the rain continued our walk. When we entered Yellowstone, even though the rain has started to turn sleet. Both were wearing a helmet "cap" style, was not wearing face protection. Ouch!, Hurt those pesky little particles sleet in the face!

Fortunately, the hail is not very long and it started a bit 'compensation, as we approach the visitor center approached by our campsite. We stopped in the center, parked the bikes and went to make sure that none of our equipment was alsoterribly wet, before giving the store a couple of field - namely, food ..

If you ever get the chance to visit Grand Teton - please do not do - is really something to see.

Teton

It offers a sensual experience pays feel the wind in your face, smell the fresh air and see clearly, the landscape changes. His most vulnerable to wind, rain, sun, storm clouds, on a dirt road and cross the angry bison snortingPath expands the adventure. This exhibition will feel riding provides a sense of freedom and commitment to your journey like no other.

Moto Beartooth Highway, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks

While all of Yellowstone National Park is your friend in a unique shared experience, a unique vision and camaraderie will be shared with other bikers.

Check for road closures and before the trip. You may need to plan a trip in your itinerary. If you are on a motorcycle, may lead to the constructionTo maneuver on dirt roads broken. We have been facing aa few sections of road while driving illegally!

The journey of adventure and Yellowstone!

At Yellowstone, we visited Old Faithful, Lower Geyser Basin, Hayden Valley, Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and Yellowstone Lake, and met other incredible attractions. I would recommend time in Hayden Valley. It 's very quiet and less crowded than the western part of the park is still fullWildlife.

Moto Beartooth Highway

We left to go to Bearthooth Yellowstone Highway. The Beartooth Highway is a breathtaking adventure for motorcycle enthusiasts. This highway inspiration rugged mountain offers a panoramic view of snowcapped mountains, granite cliffs and glacial lakes. To add adventure, we ran against bigStorm clouds!

After a trip to Beartooth Highway, we stayed at the inn Yodel in Red Lodge, a motorcycle friendly motel in a mountain village very attractive. On the way back to the park from Red Lodge, we stopped at the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody. I would like to visit this museum and so much time to visit the exhibition suggests.

Grand Teton National Park

The Grand Teton are incredibly beautiful, and we continue to stay inenjoy the scenery and take pictures! We camped and dined at signing Hill with a wooded, lakeside camping and organic meal at the restaurant.

Wind River Mountains and Lake Fremont

On the way back we stopped to camp and picnic at the lake in the Wind River Mountains, Fremont. This area is beautiful, with granite rocks, wildlife, lakes, pristine forests and explore a wide range of hiking trails. I hope to come back and spend time exploring thisrugged and scenic area in Wyoming.

5 nights and 6 days of adventure - 1200 miles total! I look forward to my next adventure bike - maybe next time I'll be cruising on your bike!
