Chef Susan Teton Campbell - Successful health and relationship with food

Kevin: First of all, the way we start here is just to give us some 'of your story where you come from and how do you know where you are now.

Susan: Well, I worked with John Robbins and a large group of people for several years in the mid 90s. Previously, I had learned, was completely raw inside and outside, a raw food, living on a raw food diet in the early '90s for a few years. I think we were among the first to everactually occurs. Is not that what we taught in schools. We have just finished working in schools for a plant-based choice to get. But for some years I lived on a strict raw food and I prospered. It 'was like the abolition of the prison diet, I've never experienced before. It 'really just changed my life, as you all know. It 's like a live food, so full of colors and scents and sensual as great tasting food and the way in which we hear is how the food looks and smells. This is a wholenew life.

Teton

So even though I read a lot of diet books all my life and was always in Essen, which was one thing that really broke me open .. Then, working with John and learn more and better the environment, agriculture and the whole field, the whole green movement, which is a bit 'more vibrant in the world right now than it was. I have to travel farther and live on this diet really well. But in a period of time just does not really supported me the whole way. After aSome years I went through the integration of more cooked food in my diet started. Not much, but a bit 'more than I've ever done.

Chef Susan Teton Campbell - Successful health and relationship with food

Then I got quite sick with the type of autoimmune disease and really started the examination of different diets .. I had few friends, I lived in Los Angeles when the raw food and more from a great diet, which was completely animal foods, living completely different from anything I've ever experienced. So I started to involve the raw milkin my life and more sophisticated food - sauerkraut and jaw and all foods rich in probiotics. I never went to eat animal food, because I could not go there. For a period of time, I discovered that what is really important for me to eat from the ground and does the job. This was really the bottom line.

Secondly, I was always super fat in my diet and in abundance. I guess that's why they are so good thrived on raw foods. For the first time notonly one to be fed plenty of food from the earth, but I was always a lot of good fats in my body, I think are so important.

So after class, so many children and students, teachers and parents, so only the first steps when just getting out of their lives was bad fats and good fats, get the sugar and preservatives and chemicals from their lives and begin to sugar Natural and whole foods in their lives, would have enormousProgress in their health.

Then people began to be really taken note of my recipes. People have always enjoyed good at what I ate. So I decided with my series of lessons to start a culinary techniques, so that people could really learn to walk in the kitchen and start practicing what they listen to each sermon. I found that everyone knows what is healthy eating. Ask a sixth grader, and say. "Fruits and vegetables, whole foods" Everyone knows but they do not know howThe food is now deeply their health, their future health and longevity. The food is so powerful, not only for our bodies, but for the environment.

So that was my new business in recent years. I have the development of cooking techniques for raw and cooked some of the basic foodstuffs that you take with the techniques of raw food and then food is grown. So he gave me a way to piece something that was tasty, so to speak, forMainstream people who really want to make some changes.

The Grand Teton and Snake River Canyon Landslide - The White Water Rafting Affection

The hotel is located about 32 miles south of Grand Teton is a major highway in the Snake River Canyon. Highway 89/26 links Alpine, WY Hoback Junction in again with 23 km of a road winding road of growth improved. Recently, in mid-May 2011, a landslide blocked the highway 100 meters wide, completely sealing the access to the top or bottom of the canyon. Please note that not isolate this landslide of City of Jackson and Grand Teton National Park in eachWay.

TIME checkpoint

Teton

Due to the turbulent nature of the landslide, it will be difficult to remove the debris from the road for several weeks. The Snake River Canyon is closed to traffic from a supervisor may remove the landslide and bring rocks, mud and trees and Alpine and Hoback Junction. This may be one of the biggest landslides in history and is the throat recently by record snow and rain last winter.

The Grand Teton and Snake River Canyon Landslide - The White Water Rafting Affection

ASRafting

This apparent dilemma put the Snake River Canyon white water rafting at risk for the next few weeks, especially with regard to access. The landslide extends from near the top of the steep mountains of the Snake River. Although the river is not blocked and natural dam was built in the shadow of Grand Teton in Jackson decorators do not have direct access through the gorge to the launch and recovery of white water rafting andGuests.

ANSWER THE SCENIC

Is there a solution to this problem, however. Although this solution, travelers and visitors from the south has an additional 55 miles of scenic road, all is not lost.

One of the most beautiful roads adjacent to the Grand Teton area from the city of Jackson over Teton Pass in Idaho and on the west side of the Teton Mountains. Highway 22 rises to a height of 8,429 meters above sea level, aunobstructed view of the Grand Teton National Park and the wider Jackson. This is the by-pass the landslide of Snake River Canyon and offers views of the valley, looking for, rather than on the mountains as in the Snake River Canyon. The grades are steep, but the view is breathtaking. The additional travel time is well worth it!

If you are ascending from Teton Pass and Jackson will be able to see the National Elk Refuge, the City of Wilson, Jackson HoleSnake River, Blacktail Butte, Sleeping Indian, and most of the Grand Teton National Park. Descending to the Teton Pass, west mountain landscape, you will be treated with views of eastern Idaho and untouched. This route passes through Victor, Idaho and then through the Swan Valley on Highway 31 at the junction of Swan Valley, do not forget to add a couple of square feet of ice at the gas station alone in a corner of the intersection.

From that point, you are the Snake River in the parallel outputPalisades Reservoir. After passing the dam, you have a view of the lake to the south and the waste water of Snake River Canyon. This is in the film. The penetration of water into the tank remains muddy for several weeks until the stops scrolling.

The best of a landslide disaster might be better than direct access to the Snake River. Most visitors to the beauty of the Tetons Tetons never overlook the valley.

Whitewater in the 2011 seasonperhaps more than at any other time in recent history because of high runoff and snow cover of the Yellowstone and Snake River tributaries. Joists not, do not miss this season! The more hours after the movie is a big bonus for the water like that!

After all, you do not go on vacation, only to run from point A to B, half of the holiday is always fun too!

LOCATION

Teton

This family goes through a short race Horseshoe Bend (old water) to the east from the upper Snake River begins at the earth dam retaining the water of Lake Jackson.

Grand Teton National Park - The Floating Oxbow

WHAT TO DO

You can rent a small (or large) from raft to carry one of the many outfitters in the town of Jackson and is attached to a trailer or on top of your car, if it is a small raft. allow a "day use" mustpurchased at the Park headquarters for the path Moose River float. You do not have a guide on this section of the river, but it is very important to be able to see a map of the park for your exit point near the confluence of the Pacific Creek at Moran Junction. If you miss this point, it might be one of the most dangerous sections of the upper Snake River float require advanced skills.

The float is to do for families with young children, elderly living aloneto take in the size of mountains (without getting wet) and landscape photographers. The reflection of the Tetons from the flow of glass makes for some spectacular photos mirror!

WHERE?

Start the float at the base of the dam at Lake Jackson in a flat, raft ramp of sand. No need to get wet, if fire back into the raft and push-off position during quiet research. The river here is wild as it got to be about.

The surprisingIn this section all the snake is the clarity of the water! You can access the bottom of the river at any point, and sometimes to a depth of 10 meters to see! The water surface is like glass and the scenery is breathtaking. Native fish are plentiful in this part and can be seen in the water along the route. sand crane Canada geese, ravens, Teal, Mallard and a variety of birds of prey stock this section of river. Ospreys and bald eagles often in a hurryunsuspecting trout from the crystalline waters of the brave. This makes it possible to take pictures of children and great pipes!

Remember to float to the left (pardon the pun) that are downloaded from the main channel in the ponds, or you can lose the best part of the swimmer. They will be performed by the slow passage through the bend of the river and back into the main channel after the end of the cycle.

float tubes, canoes, kayaks, and most non-motorized floats are suitable for this sectionadd to the river and the rest of the surrounding woods.

BONUS

The wildlife in this area is thick! Elk, moose, deer, antelope and the occasional bear can be seen from your raft. If you still just sit there and imagine the "American Serengeti" You start to know what Lewis and Clark must feel when they explore the nature of Yellowstone. Some consider this experience once-in-a-lifetime!

Moto Beartooth Highway, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks

A motorcycle adventure trips through the Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, the Beartooth Highway cruise, visit an authentic mountain town of Red Lodge Montana and the city of Cody, Wyoming, with a night camping in the mountains was one of Wind River my greatest adventures.

I rode on the back of my friend Tiger triumph. We packed enough gear to our campsite and basic justice to the weather. My friend drove with skill, while I enjoyed the wind on my face, the beautiful landscape and our vulnerability to weather and the precarious position of buffalo!

Teton

Cruise on a motion of Yellowstone National Park is a great way to see the sights and experience the holidays. It offers a sensual experience pays feel the wind in your face, smell the fresh air and see clearly, the landscape changes. His most vulnerable to wind, rain, sun, storm clouds, on a dirt road and cross the angry bison snortingPath expands the adventure. This exhibition will feel riding provides a sense of freedom and commitment to your journey like no other.

Moto Beartooth Highway, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks

While all of Yellowstone National Park is your friend in a unique shared experience, a unique vision and camaraderie will be shared with other bikers.

Check for road closures and before the trip. You may need to plan a trip in your itinerary. If you are on a motorcycle, may lead to the constructionTo maneuver on dirt roads broken. We have been facing aa few sections of road while driving illegally!

The journey of adventure and Yellowstone!

At Yellowstone, we visited Old Faithful, Lower Geyser Basin, Hayden Valley, Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and Yellowstone Lake, and met other incredible attractions. I would recommend time in Hayden Valley. It 's very quiet and less crowded than the western part of the park is still fullWildlife.

Yellowstone Buffalo on my birthday we woke up at sunrise on a beautiful sunny day in Yellowstone. A bison walked through our campsite. We were very polite and respectful as it should be, if a 2000-pound animal with horns puffs up as it passes you by! As a warning to the signs in the park .. "Many visitors have been gored by Buffalo can weigh 2000 kg and can sprint to 30 mph three times faster to perform what may seem, these animals are domesticated, but wild.. Unpredictable and dangerous "has also been suggested, never grab the tail of a buffalo - probably very good advice!

Bison and geysers of Yellowstone

It 'was very discouraging travel through the park before being stopped only by a herd of buffalo along the road. We felt very vulnerable sitting completely exposed on a motorcycle without a space, such as cars and buffalo surrounded escape. Within a few yards away, a huge bison looked straight at us, put thetongue out and hissing. We apologize for close viewing of animals had hoped, but certainly did not expect to come awfully close!

Moto Beartooth Highway

We left to go to Bearthooth Yellowstone Highway. The Beartooth Highway is a breathtaking adventure for motorcycle enthusiasts. This highway inspiration rugged mountain offers a panoramic view of snowcapped mountains, granite cliffs and glacial lakes. To add adventure, we ran against bigStorm clouds!

After a trip to Beartooth Highway, we stayed at the inn Yodel in Red Lodge, a motorcycle friendly motel in a mountain village very attractive. On the way back to the park from Red Lodge, we stopped at the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody. I would like to visit this museum and so much time to visit the exhibition suggests.

Grand Teton National Park

The Grand Teton are incredibly beautiful, and we continue to stay inenjoy the scenery and take pictures! We camped and dined at signing Hill with a wooded, lakeside camping and organic meal at the restaurant.

Wind River Mountains and Lake Fremont

On the way back we stopped to camp and picnic at the lake in the Wind River Mountains, Fremont. This area is beautiful, with granite rocks, wildlife, lakes, pristine forests and explore a wide range of hiking trails. I hope to come back and spend time exploring thisrugged and scenic area in Wyoming.

5 nights and 6 days of adventure - 1200 miles total! I look forward to my next adventure bike - maybe next time I'll be cruising on your bike!

Be Bear Aware when hiking in national parks

National Parks, some of the most beautiful wild lands in North America offer. Each year, millions of national parks in the United States and Canada. Many choose the least busy to explore the park by hiking in the backcountry. Excursions into the National Park is rewarding, exciting, adventurous and, yes, there are many dangers, from which people should be aware of. There is high current, rocks, geothermal features, waterfalls, fallRocky, steep terrain, time, call the snow and share some wildlife.

Wildlife can be found in every national park, although the species and populations vary greatly depending on geographic location. One of the most amazing animals, the grizzly bear. The grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) is a powerful predator that is able to sprint a horse and a weight up to 350-600 pounds. Grizzly bears can be found in Grand Teton Yellowstone, andGlacier National Park in Montana and Wyoming. largest population of grizzly bears, also found throughout western Canada and Alaska.

Teton

Grizzly bears are omnivores, meaning they eat both plants and animals. Often a new grass and winter feed carcasses killed when the first exit hibernation in the spring. Bears have a keen sense of smell and can detect food from miles driven away. Under normal circumstances, people are afraid of grizzly bears and make every effort to avoidthem. However, bear encounters for various reasons, and can be dangerous for both bears and outdoor enthusiasts.

Be Bear Aware when hiking in national parks

Never hike alone in bear country. The bears are much less likely to confront a group of hikers as a solo traveler. There is also a good idea to draw attention to the wind direction to pay and be aware that the conditions could lead to surprise a bear. When the wind blows in my face, so it is unlikely that a bear before you can recognize yourProfumo. Such a situation you do not need to turn around and walk in the opposite direction, however, say no, you must focus on what to pay in your path. Be careful when approaching the top of a hill or walking out of the woods into a field. In such cases, all the bears that are present may not be able to see, let's go. Hikers should exercise extra care when walking near a stream caused as fast as the sound of rapidly moving water, makes it probabledifficult to hear for the bears in the area all of you.

Encounters with bears are particularly dangerous in three different conditions. Never approach a bear with cubs, do not approach an animal carcass, and never surprise a bear. Bears are very protective of their young and will attack furiously, which they perceive as a threat to their young. Bears are very protective of their food sources, and will do what they believe tried to steal their attackFood. Finally, keep in very unpredictable and often for fear of surprise attack. Another important consideration also applies to overnight campers in bear country. Do not store food in tents or in a place that is accessible to bears. Your diet should always be kept in a bear-proof box or hanging from a tree ten feet off the ground, and campers should be at least 100 meters from the camping meals camping in backcountry areas inhabited by bears prepare.

Mostdangerous encounters can easily know your surroundings and avoid wearing safety rules. However, people need to know how to react if they encounter a bear. to remember the first rule is never encountered a bear, run. Through this, a hiker to follow trigger natural prey drive and even a bear Olympic sprinter can not obsolete a bear. While certainly be difficult, the best approach for your request. E 'It is recommended that hikers wear when they venture outside the country to carry bear spray. However, people need to know how to use bear spray to avoid negative consequences. For example, bear spray typically has a maximum range of 30 feet, you do not want to start a fast start only wear resistant spray before the bear is close enough to hear all intents and purposes means. It is also important to know the direction of the wind when you wear spray. If a strong windblows to the face, probably do nothing but weaken the bear spray, when it blows back in your face. This can be a lot of information in stressful conditions that are far less than ideal process.

If you encounter a grizzly bear, and charges to stand still. Sometimes the bears bluff charge, they turn in another direction in half a minute. If a store has a grizzly bear physical contact, drop to makeFloor, lying with his face down, and lock your hands behind your neck. If you wore a backpack, will provide additional protection for you. Keep calm, as quiet as possible during the attack, because the grizzly usually trigger and move forward when no longer perceived a threat. Withstand a grizzly bear in an attack caused only continue to endure. First, listen carefully and look around to make sure that the bear has left. Do not be until after the Bearshas moved out of sight, and then leave the area immediately, preferably in the opposite direction from where the bear is gone.

For blacks encounters with bears, it is generally recommended that fight. Black bears are behaving differently than grizzly bears, and are known to chase people. The most important factor is whether you surprise a sow with cubs or if you are pursued by a lone black bear. If pursued (for example, came slowly) by a black bear, thenYou must prepare to fight with all that you can use (such as bear spray, sticks and stones). It 'also important to remember that the bears blacks are excellent tree climbers, and one can not escape by simply climbing the nearest tree. Often a predatory black bear track change my mind about a person if it determines that the expense is too great.

Finally, people should not be out of the desert, just because we live bears. InIn fact confirmed the presence of bears, in fact, the wild nature of the country and experience the adventurous outdoor enthusiasts expected. Hikers do not even see a bear while hiking in the backcountry of National Parks, such as Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Glacier. A fortunate few to enjoy the rare experience of seeing a bear at a safe distance in the wild. Although most hikers never see a bear during their field trip, it is always important to considerwhen exploring the backcountry of national parks where bears roam. As an experienced and prepared for your outdoor experience will be much safer and more pleasant. Get outdoors this summer and experience the many great things that can only be found in the backcountry. Learn more about Yellowstone and Grand Teton wildlife.

My friend drove with professionalism, while I enjoyed the wind on my face, the beautiful landscape and our vulnerability to weather and the precarious position of buffalo!

Grand Teton National Park - the Pearl of the West

Many people do not know, but the Jackson Hole Airport is the only airport in a National Park with regular scheduled service! I flew many times in the last 25 years and I love every landing, every scene and every activity.

Wyoming Grand Teton National Park is approximately 4 miles north of Jackson. If the pioneers had seen in 1850, this area has never done before Oregon or Salt Lake City.

Teton

The Grand> Teton rises above all the mountains in the area. It reaches a height of 13,780 feet above sea level and is known as the youngest mountain in the Rockies. The increase in a vertical line from the valley floor like a guard standing next to the famous Snake River, this area is the home of "America's Serengeti."

Grand Teton National Park - the Pearl of the West

Few areas in North America are more environmentally County protected with 97% of land area in Teton or be under federal control or under the control ofprivate conservation organizations.

The wildlife is abundant and all the parasites, reptiles and big game includes the Wild West.

It 'an area east of Grand Teton Park, is that within the next to Highway 89 flats known as antelopes. Go east 89 to Moose along the base of Blacktail Butte.

They know that not many people take this part of the park that one of the largest and most visible herds of buffalo roamed freely. You can find the herd the harvestMoulton Barn (the most photographed barn in the world, with the Grand Teton in the background) in the line known as the Mormons. Often you are in the middle of the pack, before crossing the street for additional grazing rights.

Please stay in Buffalo when the vehicle approach. They are not tame! If you make them mad, will be collected and where they want to take. It can also damage your car if you do not like!

There are a handful of private homes onBluff that slopes overlook the significant increase in the shadow of Grand Teton. Lucky them! They are the last remaining private property surrounded by Grand Teton National Park.

If you are looking for wildlife, adventure, the Wild West and the natural beauty, this should be on your list! Accommodation is relatively inexpensive and the summers are cool and comfortable.

Do not forget a jacket for posts made in the shade. The downward inclination can bring a shiver of fan Leeif you are not prepared!
